STORY: Margory "Marge" Donalda Story of Brandon passed away on Friday, August 22, 2003 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Marge was born in Souris, Manitoba on May 25, 1919, the second child of three, to Bert and May Canning. She received her schooling in Deleau, Manitoba. Marge married Keith English Story of Oak Lake on August 25, 1944 at the Bethel Church near Deleau. After their marriage, Marge and Keith owned and operated the general store in Basswood, MB. They later moved to Whitewater in 1947 and purchased the general store "Story's Friendly Service". In 1955 the family moved to Brandon and Marge worked at Wilson's Stationery, while she also worked part-time at the Prince Edward Hotel. She later moved on to work at Brandon Chrysler Dodge where she retired from full-time employment. Along with her husband Keith they worked as bartenders at many functions, wedding socials, Christmas and New Year parties. In her later years, Marge known as Grandma, enjoyed working at Lady of the Lake CafT wrapping cutlery, which gave her an opportunity to meet many people. Marge had a natural talent for playing the piano, which began early in life. She would hear a tune and be able to play it without written music. Marge spent many weekends fishing at Sandy Lake with her husband Keith. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing the organ, and cards with various seniors groups. Her love of horses started at a young age, showing horses (Sadie is one in particular) and working the fields with horses. She received many awards at horse shows from best lady rider and in many driving classes. This love of horses continued with her daughter Noreen, who has had horses since moving to the Kemnay area. Marge is survived by her daughter Noreen Minary of Brandon; granddaughter Taany (Jeff) Wheeler of Brandon; great granddaughter Kelsey; brother Clayton (Mona) Canning of Souris; brother-in-law Walter Boyes also of Souris and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Keith story in 1986; parents Bert and May Canning; and sister Dorothy Boyes, all of Souris.
