WALKO: Margaret Rose Walko of Brandon passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Assiniboine Centre on June 14, 2006 at the age of 77 years. Margaret was born October 8, 1928 in Stockholm, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Joseph Sr. and Ruby Sarkany. She was raised with her brothers and sisters on the family farm near Swan River, Manitoba. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband George of 55 years; son Robert; daughter Linda (Malcolm) McLennan; grandchildren Daniel (Dustel), Angela (Pat) and great-grandson Seth. Also surviving are Margaret's two sisters, Mary Barron and Helen Sarkany as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her son Gary Walko, her parents Joseph Sr. and Ruby Sarkany and brothers Joseph Jr. and Bert. A memorial service to honour Margaret's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, June 17, 2006. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to staff on the third floor of the Assiniboine Centre for their care and compassion not only to Margaret but also to her family.
