In Loving Memory of Margaret Amelia Patricia Robinson

Margaret Amelia Patricia Robinson, beloved wife, seamstress extraordinaire, and vibrant soul, peacefully departed this world on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Fairview Personal Care Home. She was 102.

Margaret was born on January 15, 1921, in London, England, to parents Alfred and Rosa Ward. A resilient spirit from the start, Margaret's journey led her to Canada as a war bride, where she embraced a new life alongside her first husband, Mike Crossman, who served valiantly in the Second World War.

Margaret began her employment as a housekeeper with the Robinson household near Tilston, MB. It was here that fate intervened, and she encountered the shy yet endearing Mel Robinson. Their love story unfolded on dance floors across Westman, as Margaret, with her unwavering spirit, coaxed Mel into partnership, and as the saying goes, "the rest is history."

Together, Margaret and Mel became a fixture in the square dance community, participating in events across the region. They even opened their home on Rosser Ave to fellow enthusiasts, creating cherished memories in the joyous embrace of dance. Margaret's talent as a seamstress was unparalleled, and her creativity shone through as she crafted matching square dance outfits for the duo.

Summers were spent at Clear Lake, where Margaret reveled in the outdoors, fishing, tending to her beloved potted plants, and basking in the intense sunshine. Margaret's skills as a seamstress were honed at the prestigious Harry Nichols store in London, and in retirement, she proudly displayed her craft through various projects, including bedding, drapes, comforters, and even wedding gowns.

Margaret's warmth extended beyond her sewing needle, leaving an indelible mark of compassion and wisdom on all who knew her. She had an eye for fashion, a love for flowers, and an appreciation for the intense sun, all of which she cultivated with care. Boston cream donuts, the thrill of competitive curling (with Brad Gushue as a favorite), and an avid interest in the Royal Family were among Margaret's other passions.

In the almost decade she spent at Fairview Personal Care Home, Margaret continued to radiate positivity, leaving an enduring legacy of love and joy within her community of dancers, on her block, and among the cherished residents and staff at Fairview.

Margaret Robinson will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her compassionate spirit, her pearls of wisdom, and the sunshine she brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

A huge thank you to the Fairview Personal Care Home Staff for the amazing care over the last several years.
