The death of Avonna Mosson occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday October 13, 2002. Margaret Avonna Nichol was born January 21, 1924 at the Healthwin Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, daughter of David Nichol and Margaret Howat. In December of 1946 she married Stan (Bant) Mosson and after many years in Alexander, made the move to Brandon. Stan built them a home on Park Street. Upon Stan's passing Avonna moved into Westman Lions Manor where she made many friends and took an active part in all the functions at the manor. Many summers were spent at Sportsman's Park where Stan built a cottage. Social evenings were plentiful with the Brandon bunch also vacationing there. After raising her son, Avonna returned to the work force, to work at the Brandon Clinic. There she found and developed many friendships that continued until the time of her passing. She also enjoyed the monthly luncheons, renewing old friendships, with the Alexander crowd. She also was an active volunteer at Brandon General Hospital choosing to work mostly in the gift shop Her favorite "job" however, was the countless hours spent with her two grandsons, Josh and Jason. Seldom would she miss a curling game, a birthday party or a Christmas concert. Grandma was always readily available to step in and help with the boys. Most times, they could do no wrong in Grandma's eyes!! She also was the occasional weekend cat sitter for "Socks Mosson"?n and Eileen's cat. Socks loved to sit on Grandma's lap when she watched her shows. Avonna is survived by her son; Ron, his wife Eileen, and her two grandsons; Josh and Jason. There are many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, David on Ocotober 29, 1952, her mother Margaret on January 14, 1962, her husband Stan on June 6, 1985, and most recently her sister in law; May Murray on August 20, 2002.
