MITTON: Edna Mitton passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Edna was born in 1918. She was the only child of Walter and Edith Mitton. Her mother died when she was young. She joined the Brandon General Hospital Women's Auxiliary until she joined St. George's Anglican Church, which was her second home. After her father died, Edna stayed in her house with the help of Betty and the late Bill Lacey. Edna was lucky to have wonderful friends that drove her to church and all her meetings at George Strange and to Orla's. Edna had to move out of her house so the last ten years she was at "Just like Home" seniors home owned by Naomi Simoens. Edna was predeceased by her parents Edith and Walter Mitton; Ann and Fred Hurst, Bert Hurst, Harold and Ann Hurst, Anne Hulme and numerous cousins. The Ceremony to Celebrate Edna's Life will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 1011 5th Street, on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Jim Brown will officiate. Graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Please meet at the church at 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the cemetery. Thank you to Naomi Simoens for all the wonderful care that she gave to Edna.
