LABAY: Margaret "Baba", age 94 years, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the at Rideau Park Personal Care Home, with her loving family by her side. Margaret was lovingly known by all simply as "Baba"; she treated everyone as family and was a grandmother figure to all. She opened her home and kitchen to friends and family, feeding everyone who came for a visit (whether they were hungry or not). Baba had a passion for cooking, and was known for her delicious perogies and cabbage rolls - she taught her children and grandchildren how to make her perogy recipe and would have an assembly line of perogy production in her kitchen. These sessions would satisfyingly end with the reward of a heaping plate of buttery perogies for all. Baba was also an avid quilter, and her cozy patchwork quilts are a staple in all of her children and grandchildren's homes. For as much as she loved cooking and quilting, her true passion was Bingo. Baba was a popular presence at the local Bingo halls, always with an impossibly large number of cards in front of her, a flurry of arms and dabbers a blur as she intently listened to the caller. Baba was absolutely beloved by her family, and she, in turn, wholeheartedly loved them back. She was predeceased by her mother Mary, father Peter, husbands Joe Lamb and Tony Labay, son-in-law David Teichrow and her brother Nick Dmyterko. She is survived by her children Melvin (Bernie) Lamb, Marilyn "Dolly" Teichrow and Gloria (Robert) Davis; grandchildren Christine (Brad) Schoonbaert, Ryan (Connie) Phinney, Bobby (Trisha) Phinney, Sarah (Len) Mauthe, Jill (Steve) Redfern, Danyelle (Corey) Wieland and Bryce (Jill) Thoen; thirteen great and great-great grandchildren; and her brother Steve (Janet) Dmyterko. She was an incredibly special woman who touched the lives of everyone she knew and was loved by so many; she will be greatly missed. Baba's family would like to thank the staff at Rideau Park Personal Care Home for their loving and attentive care, as well as the staff at Memories Chapel for their compassion.
