HARPER: Margaret I. Harper, beloved wife of the late Edward Harper, passed away at Fairview Home, Brandon, on Friday, March 3, 2000. Margaret was born on November 3, 1917 to Wilfred and Mabel Thomson of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. Margaret was raised in Neepawa, Manitoba, where she met and married Edward W. Harper. Three daughters, Carol, Rhonda, and Susan were born to them. The family lived at Neepawa until 1952, then they moved to Brandon. Margaret and Ed were members of First Presbyterian Church. Margaret was a life member of the Women's Missionary Society, and continued the work with Church School and Youth Groups that had its beginnings in Neepawa. Church was the center of her life. In 1961, Margaret returned to the classroom as a Junior High teacher at McLaren School, Brandon. In 1964 she moved to Earl Oxford Junior High and served as Teacher/Librarian until her retirement in 1978. Margaret remained devoted to her church and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and later, great-grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her three daughters, Carol (Bryan) Tyerman of Boissevain, Rhonda Harper of Brandon, and Susan (Bruce) Potter of Deloraine; four grandchildren: Lisa (Rick) Walker, Tracey (Trevor) Hicks, Lori (Jason) Rommelaere, Carrie (Mark) Vandaele; and seven great grandchildren: Braden, Teagan, Kaelyn, Hayley, Brittany, Rylan and Cole. Also surviving is one brother, Harold Thomson of Neepawa; sister-in-law Alice Murray of Neepawa; sister-in-law Jean Thomson of Brandon; nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Ed and brother John. Funeral service was held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, March 7, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Dale Woods and Pastoral Associate Arlene Robertson officiated. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Don Thomson, Robin Andrews, Bill Grobb, Stuart Cowie, Neil Tarr, Cordell Grant. Donations, in memory of Margaret, may be made to First Presbyterian Church Youth Programs, 339 - 12th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4M3 or to a charity of choice. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
