FEDAK: With her loving daughter at her side, Margaret Marion "Connie" Fedak, formerly of Fairview Home, widow of the late Mike Fedak, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. "Connie", as she was known to her many friends, was born on February 18, 1916 in Elkhorn to John and Bertha Conley. She lived there with her family and later moved to the Kelwood area where she attended school at Rosskeen School and later graduated high school at Kelwood. After graduating, she worked for the Harper family in the McCreary district where she met and married her beloved husband, Mike, on October 6, 1937. They farmed in the McCreary district and raised a son Edwin and a daughter Linda. Mike followed in his father's footsteps working for C.N.R. While Mike worked, Connie stayed home and took care of the farm and raising the children. They moved to Knox (Brandon North) where Mike was section foreman and after a few years they moved into their newly built house in Brandon. While living in Brandon, Connie worked at Grayston Hatchery, Eaton's and later became manageress of the Co-op Lunch Bar on Sixth Street. Connie was known for her delicious, mouth-watering butter tarts, pies and pastries. She loved baking, gardening, bingo and her favorite music by Daniel O'Donnell. She was an avid curler, softball player and long distance runner and won medals for running. Her family always came first and no matter what, she always made people feel welcome and always had a cup of tea or coffee for those who dropped in for visits. Connie moved into Fairview home in 2002 where she lived and made many friends. She especially loved getting hugs from the nurses and staff there. Her door was always open and she always had a smile, joke, wave or a friendly shake of her finger. Mom participated in all the recreational events from bingo and ceramics to rhythm band and loved her nightly card games with her fellow residents and family. Connie loved and enjoyed all the staff at Fairview and received excellent care there. She was a real joy to know and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Connie was predeceased by her loving husband Mike in 1996; sister Bernice; brothers Cliff, Jim, Stan and Murray. Connie is survived by her sister Irene of Eastview Lodge, Neepawa; son Ed (Carol); daughter Linda; grandchildren Mike (Michelle), Darrin (Karen), Danny and Dallas as well as two great grandsons, Michael and Mitchell and two great granddaughter, Jenny and Madeline. A Celebration of Connie's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, November 15, 2004, one day before her loving husband Mike's 90th birthday. Mona Franklin officiated the service. She had also officiated at her husband's service eight years prior. Urn bearers were her two great-grandsons Michael and Mitchell. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Mona Franklin, Vern Schneider and staff of Memories Chapel for their kindness and compassion; Dr. Kramer of I.C.U. and nurse Marie; Dr. Visser and all the nurses and staff of Palliative Care Assiniboine Centre and all the nurses and staff of Fairview Home. God bless each and every one who attended Mom's service and for all the cards, expressions of sympathy and floral arrangements. We, her family, are so grateful to have had such a loving and considerate mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
