Obituary

"Peggy" Davison passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 19, 2001. Peggy was born Margaret Telfer Thomson on March 21, 1919 in Hobkirk, Scotland, the third child of Henry and Helen Thomson. When Peggy was just one year old the family emigrated to Canada, settling in Harte, Manitoba. Peggy received all her education in the Harte area and had many a story to tell of those times. She often talked of daredevil stunts such as jumping off the schoolhouse roof into the snow bank, and overturning outhouses! She lovingly remembered going to family dances in the horse and buggy. Her father would play the accordion and Peggy and her sister, Janet, would perform the Highland Fling. She spent many hours in the barn where the horses were kept. She often talked of riding the horses bareback, and jumping fences, once being thrown and ending up with a concussion. She was always a very hardworking and disciplined individual. When Peggy was 22 years old she met her future husband at a Carberry dance. Joseph (Joe/Scotty) Davison was a serviceman with the English RAF, who were stationed at the Carberry camps during the Second World War. They were married almost two years later in April of 1943. Joe was then sent to France for the remainder of the war. Peggy sailed to England in November of 1945 to join Joe. They lived in Blyth, Northumberland for approximately 12 years during which time their three children were born; John, Karen and Ray. The family emigrated to Brandon, Manitoba in November of 1957. Peggy worked briefly at the Sunset Haven Nursing Home and approximately 22 years at the Fairview Personal Care Home in Brandon. She was a valued, hardworking and well respected employee. She was always busy, even after retirement in 1983. Peggy's good health enabled her to spend many years of enjoyment gardening, cleaning, knitting, cleaning, crocheting, reading and more cleaning! She was seldom idle!! Peggy was predeceased by her parents, siblings, Douglas, Howard, and Janet; and by her husband Joe in 1982. Peggy will be deeply missed by her children: son, John, grandchildren, Pam (Fred), Tammy (Todd), Kristine (Jason) Joey (Stephanie) Tiffany, and Melissa; daughter, Karen (Ed) Beam, grandchildren, Jennifer (Jay), Megan and Robin (Rejean); son, Ray (Shelley); brothers, Henry and Johnny (Muriel); sister-in-law Merle; several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North in Brandon, on Thursday, February 22, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Don Hudson officiating.
