Margaret Bella Bruce of Brandon passed away, Sunday, December 3, 2000 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Margaret was born December 16, 1918 in Lauder, Manitoba and settled with her family in Napinka. She completed her schooling in Napinka and moved to Winnipeg, where she worked as a cook-general to earn money for nursing school. Margaret graduated from the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg in 1941. She was a Nursing Sister in the Armed Forces during the war. She met her husband, Fred, while serving in the Armed Forces and they married in 1945. They lived briefly in Ontario and in 1950 settled in Brandon. She was a private duty nurse for many years and before she retiring in 1983 was a Nursing Supervisor at the Brandon General Hospital for 20 years. Margaret was active in the hospital social committee and was a lifetime member of the Victoria Hospital Alumni, the coordinator for Nearly New for many years as well as on the executive of Wheat City Lawn Bowling. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed lawn bowling. Margaret leaves to mourn her daughter, Heather, son, Doug, daughter-in-law, Cheryl, grandchildren Tyler, Kylie and Stephen and niece Jill. She is also survived by a son, Richard. She was pre-deceased by her husband Frederick in 1976, brother, Jack in 1976, and sister Annie in 1987. The Funeral Service for Margaret will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Friday, December 8, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Harold Nightingale will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
