Obituary

SHAW: The death of Madaline "Phyllis" Shaw of Brandon, Manitoba, formerly of Estevan, Saskatchewan occurred at Fairview home on Monday, September 4, 2006.
Phyllis was born in Russell, Manitoba on January 31, 1930 to George and Agnes White of Binscarth, Manitoba. She was raised and took her schooling in Binscarth, Manitoba. As a young girl she participated in baseball, skating, and other activities. After finishing her schooling Phyllis worked as a telephone operator for MTS. She also worked as a teller at the Royal Bank in Roland, housekeeper for various families, waitress in a restaurant in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan where she met Roy, and finally as a nurse's aid in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan. On October 28, 1950 she married Roy Shaw in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1955, Roy and Phyllis moved to Estevan, Saskatchewan. She then took a position at St. Joseph's Hospital as Supervisor of Central Supplies working there until her retirement. Then she decided to move to Brandon making her home there until her health failed and moved to Fairview. Phyllis took great interest in her flower beds, knitting for nieces and nephews, following their sports and school activities, and many holiday trips. Phyllis was predeceased by her mother and father Agnes and George White; husband Roy in 1979; sisters Muriel Scarrow and Joan Charles; brothers-in-law Murray Pizzey and Don Charles; nieces Judy and Beverly; nephews George and David. Phyllis is survived by four brothers Arthur (Del) White of Ottawa, Bernie (Gladys) White of Binscarth, Leslie (Dorothy) White and Gordon (Gail) White, both of Brandon; sister Imogen Pizzey of Foxwarren; brother-in-law Garnett Scarrow; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Phyllis is also survived by the Shaw family. The Ceremony to Celebrate Madaline's Life will be held at the St. Giles Anglican Church, 12th Avenue and 3rd Street, Estevan, Saskatchewan on Friday, September 15, 2006 at 1:00 pm, Central Standard Time. Rev. Michael Sinclair will officiate. Interment will follow in the Souris Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Madaline to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6.
