ANDREW: The death of Lorraine Andrew occurred on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the age of 68. Lorraine was born in Rivers, the second daughter of Helen and Russell Couch. She grew up in a farm life in the Rapid City area, involved in 4H and community activities. She became a teacher and taught school in Nelson House and Lynn Lake. Following her marriage to Terry Clarke and a move to Victoria, British Columbia, they raised two sons David and Barry. Lorraine continued teaching in Victoria in a private school. After her divorce from Terry, she rekindled an old friendship and married Cecil Andrew, bringing her back to the farm in Rapid City for a few years. They traveled in Canada and the US, spending many winters in Texas. When Cecil and Lorraine moved to Brandon in 1988, she began working for We Care. Lorraine led an energetic life giving of herself and her time to others. She was talented in many crafts - crocheting, knitting, quilting, and sewing - making endless projects, often for needy children. She was also admired for the teddy bears she created from old fur coats. Lorraine had just recently been recognized by Fairview Home for 19 years of volunteer work. Her love of family, music, dance and laughter will be missed by all who knew her. Lorraine is survived by her husband Cecil; sons David (Lesley) and Barry; granddaughter Jennifer (Paul) Young; great-grandson Jordan; sister Shirley Bollman; sisters-in-law: Betty Hyndman, Irene (Richard) Kuntz, and Avis Neilsen; brother-in-law Lloyd Andrew and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Helen and Russell Couch; sister Cybel Esplin; brothers-in-law John Esplin, Ken Bollman, Gordon Andrew, Ken Andrew and Leif Neilsen. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Rapid City United Church. Rev. Barbara Jardine officiated. Pallbearers were Daryl Andrew, Garth Andrew, Chris Martin, Lyle Ramsay, Doug Kreller and Dallas Kreller. Interment followed in the Rapid City Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Fairview Home, 1351 13th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4S6 or to a charity of choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning, 727-0330.
