HALLEMANS: Peacefully on March 22, 2008, Lorna Hallemans passed away at Fairview Home. Lorna was predeceased by; her husband, of forty-four years, Frank in 1981, by her twin brothers, Alvin and Arthur Sloane and son-in-law, Bob Rowluk. Lorna is lovingly remembered by: her daughters, Joan (Floyd) Darling, Evelyn (Jim) Beard, Jacqueline Rowluk and Teresa (Ted) Barker; grandchildren, Michael and Ken Darling, Christine Delaronde, Christopher and Matthew Rowluk, Carla Collins and Erin Campbell. She also leaves great grandchildren; Jamie, Daniel, Brody, Ashley, Amber, Joshua, Jaden, Danielle and Abigail as well as great great grandchild, Tanner. Lorna is survived by, one brother, David Sloane, nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Lorna, daughter of Thomas and Emily Sloane, was born on June 10, 1918 at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Following her marriage to Frank Hallemans, they raised four daughters. Lorna then worked as a nurse's aide for many years until at age 50, when she attended and graduated from Assiniboine Community College in Brandon. Lorna worked for the Manitoba Government in Brandon until her retirement in 1983. She was active in the Catholic Women's League in Swan Lake for many years and was organist at St. Augustine's Church in Brandon. She was an accomplished pianist/organist as well as a seamstress. Her family enjoyed many hours singing along while she played the organ. Some of her favorite times were golfing with Frank and Saturday afternoons with her daughters. She was actively enjoying time with family and friends when Alzheimers began to affect her life. In 1996, being hospitalized after a fall, she was no longer able to care for herself. She resided at Fairview Home in Brandon until her passing. Her family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Fairview Home for their compassionate care of their mother since 1997. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Brandon on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 10:30 am. Celebrant will be Fr. Dominic Yuen. Interment will follow in the veterans' section of the Brandon Cemetery.
