Obituary

STRAHL: Lois Marlene Strahl, beloved wife of Eric, loving mother to Carl and D'Arcy, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, February 10, 2008. On November 24, 1949, Lois Marlene Ringland was born to "Jack" and Peggy Ringland at Minnie Forman's Nursing Home at the RM of Daly near Rivers, Manitoba. Lois grew up on the River's Air Base until 1964 when the Ringlands moved to Rapid City, Manitoba. Lois began her school years at the Air Base then took her grade nine studies at the old Rapid City School and then continued her high school years and graduated from Elton Collegiate in 1969. Following high school Lois moved to Ninette, Manitoba to pursue a career as a nurse's aide. She graduated from her training from the Manitoba Sanatorium Hospital in Ninette, Manitoba in 1969. Lois continued to work at the Sanatorium for a while then moved to Brandon, Manitoba where she worked at the old Assiniboine Hospital. While working in Brandon she met her future husband, Eric Strahl. They later married October 20, 1973. After getting married, they moved up to Leaf Rapids and Lois took a break from working. A couple of years later they moved to the farm, six miles south of Minnedosa, where they presently reside and started a family. Lois and Eric had two boys, Carl and D'Arcy. Later on, Lois decided to go back to work for a few years as a nurse's aide in Neepawa at East View Lodge. Traveling was one of Lois' favorite things to do. She went to visit family in Ottawa, Moose Jaw, Nanaimo, and even down to California. Lois' niece helped her get into scrap booking and she even tried her hand at quilting. Lois loved to take care of her flowers, as well as her nieces and nephews, and there wasn't a time when she would say "no" to shopping. Lois is survived by her caring husband Eric Strahl along with her two wonderful boys, Carl and D'Arcy. She is also survived by her mother Margaret "Peggy" Ringland; brothers Bill (Linda) Ringland, Gary (Jacquie) Ringland, and Laurie Ringland. Her sisters include Betty Ann Bertrand, Verlye Joyce, Bev Thomson, Sherrill (Clive) Sanderson, Lindee (Norman) Smith, Melodie (Steve) Goodwin, Joyce Ringland, Jackie Huber, and Pattie-Dee (Dave) Robinson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was predeceased by her sisters Baby Ringland, Nikki Lynn Ringland; her father William John Ringland; brothers-in-law Ronald Joyce, Bill Bertrand and Bill Thomson and sister-in-law Helene Ringland.
