Stewart: Lloyd Vernon Stewart passed away peacefully at Rideau Park Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba, on Sunday, July 4, 2004. Born in 1927 in Cabri, Saskatchewan, he leaves behind wife, Margaret Stewart (nee Barron), and children, Richard Stewart (Beryl) and children Chad & Ria, Joanne Ikert, (Larry) and children Keri and Heather, Patricia Merkel, (Paul) and children Michelle & Lesley, Carolyn Cole, (Glen) and children Erin and Kristen, and Robert Stewart and four great grandchildren. Lloyd is survived by his sister Beryl Schinbein (George) and brothers Clifton, (Lillian) Calvin, (Mavis), Dale and Ashley, (Ida), and is predeceased by brothers David and Howard, sister-in-laws Dorothy & Blanche and parents Alex & Esther Stewart. Lloyd spent his early years in Cabri, Saskatchewan and Carey Manitoba. He married his wife Margaret in Cabri on June 21, 1951. They farmed in Carey, Manitoba where all the children were born. In 1963 they moved to Outlook, Saskatchewan where Lloyd ran a tire shop. In 1965 they moved to Fleming, Saskatchewan and farmed there until their retirement in 1992 when they moved to Brandon Manitoba. Lloyd has resided at Rideau Park Personal Care Home for the last five years, where he was very well cared for. Lloyd was very active in community and church organizations and enjoyed sports. He especially enjoyed family activities, yearly Stewart reunions and babysitting his grandchildren. Anyone who wishes to make a donation in memory of Lloyd may do so to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Westman Region, 437-9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 4A9 or the charity of their choice. There will be a Memorial Service at Rideau Park Personal Care Home Tuesday, July 6th, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Fleming Saskatchewan.
