Lloyd was the first-born on May 31, 1921 to Mabel and William Thomas Dyer, and two sisters Lillian and Phyllis and one brother William followed. He received his education at Daly Union School. Lloyd farmed with his family and later on his own but always his main interest was mechanics. Lloyd served in the army during WWII in the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment and saw a great deal of action in Italy, France and Holland. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and also the Pioneer Power and Equipment Club. Lloyd was a bachelor and in his later years had been a regular patron of the restaurants in Rivers, especially the West Avenue Steakhouse and Lounge, more often referred to as "Chicken Jacks". Most days he drove to town three times a day to eat and to the Legion for a beer. Lloyd is survived by his sister-in-law Shirley Dyer; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father William Thomas and Agnes Mabel Dyer; sisters Lillian Gerrard and Phyllis Foster and one brother William Thomas Dyer.
