CRAIG, Lloyd Douglas: Peacefully at home, our Dad, Grandpa, and Husband, Lloyd Craig passed away on Friday, July 25, 2003. Lloyd was born in Sinclair, Manitoba on February 12, 1918 to Frederick and Mary Anne (nee Miller) Craig. He was the second youngest in the family and grew up with 3 brothers and 1 sister along with their cousin St. Clair "Spink" Doerr. Lloyd received his education in Sinclair, and spent many summer days playing baseball. In 1937, he joined the RCMP in Regina, Sask. He then enlisted with the armed forces and served from 1942 to 1946 in Europe during WW ll. Post war, Lloyd stayed in Germany to assist in rebuilding the Country. After returning from Germany, Lloyd moved back to Sinclair, where he worked on Williamson's farm, and at Steep Rock Mines over the next 10 years. In 1957, Lloyd moved to Clear Water Lake, MB, and worked as a stationary engineer at the Sanatorium. Here, he met Susan Brown, who worked at the TB hospital and they eloped six weeks later. They remained at Clear Water Lake until 1965. Lloyd and Susan were avid curlers on a mixed team, even winning a few trophies along the way. They were blessed with two children. Lorne in 1963 and Mary Ann in 1964. In the spring of 1965, Lloyd and his family moved to Brandon where he lived his remaining years. Lloyd worked as a stationary engineer at CFB Shilo until taking an early retirement in 1983. Lloyd was a quiet man, but, always had a witty comment and a twinkle in his eye. He enjoyed his family, talking about the weather, doing crossword puzzles, eating homemade date cake, and keeping his eye on the local neighborhood. He was keenly interested in all sports, especially hockey, curling and baseball. Coming out to the farm at Douglas, even working the land, was a special time for Lloyd. Lloyd was blessed with being able to live at home, drive a car, and remain active until his quiet passing. He will always be remembered by his family and friends. Lloyd is survived by his wife Susan (Brown), son Lorne, daughter-in-law Susan (nee Lawrence), their children Gillian and Andrew of Lillooet, B.C., daughter Mary Ann, son-in-law Kelly Penner, and their children Landon, Stephanie, and Kendra of Douglas, Man., sister Margaret Carrie of Sault Ste.
