THOMPSON: Lillie Thompson, widow of the late Wilmer Thompson, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, on Friday, January 31, 2003. Lillie was born on April 27, 1908, on the family farm, NE 27-4-19, R.M. Of Morton, in the Brownlea District, north-east of Boissevain, MB, the youngest of eight children born to William and Emma Wray. She was raised on the family farm and attended Brownlea School. As a young girl, Lillie enjoyed playing baseball and her violin, which she played at school dances. Lillie worked in Brandon at the Mayfair Store until her marriage to Wilmer Thompson in April of 1943. Together they moved to the Margaret district, farming there until 1973. They then moved into Margaret, residing there until moving to Brandon in 1985. They resided at the Winnipeg House until April 2002. Lillie celebrated her 94th Birthday at the Winnipeg House with her family and friends. Due to failing health, she moved to Hillcrest Place Nursing Home in 2002. She was an active member of every community that she resided in. Lillie enjoyed music and dancing. She also enjoyed bowling, cards, curling and helping to serve at all the social functions. She was predeceased by her husband Wilmer in January 1992; her five brothers, George Wray, William "Bill" Wray, James "Jim" Wray, Stanley Wray, and Clifford Wray; two sisters, Gertie Ferguson and Rena Wear-McLean. Lillie is survived by her numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, February 5, 2003. Pallbearers were her five nephews and one niece: Eugene Wray, Jim Wray, Leslie Wray, Leonard Wray, Dallis Wray and Debbie Wray-Robinson. A graveside service followed at the Margaret cemetery, Margaret, MB. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Lillie to a charity of choice.
