Lillian Adelaide Townsend passed away peacefully at her residence, Central Park Lodge on Friday, February 19, 1999. Lillian was born in Manor Park, England on May 18, 1903. She came to Canada in 1920 and married Raymond Townsend in October 1927. They farmed in the Nesbitt district until retiring to Brandon in 1973. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Raymond in 1990, also by her parents, two brothers and four sisters in England. She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters; Doreen (Al) Minary of Brandon and Marina (Jim) Laking of Barrie, Ontario. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Andrea (Randy) Markewich and Scott (Diane) Minary of Brandon, Lana (Don) Johnson of Toronto, Lance (Elsia) Laking and Jim (Margaret) Laking of Ottawa. There are ten great grandchildren. Lillian's sister, Ethel Wilson and many very special nieces and nephews in England also survive her. Fraternally, Lillian was a member of the Queen Mary Chapter, No. 3, Order of the Eastern Star. Cremation has taken place and the service of celebration for her life was held at First Presbyterian Church, 339-12th Street, Brandon on Tuesday, February 23, 1999 with Rev. Dale Woods officiating. Interment followed at Minnewawa cemetery.
