Obituary

MANN: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and friend, Lillian Edith at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, October 11, 2007 after a brave struggle with C.O.P.D. Mom was born on February 5, 1932 to William and Maud Smith of the Albert municipality. Her early years were spent growing up on the farm attending school in Sinclair. At 17, she attended Normal School in Winnipeg and upon graduation, she taught at a one-room schoolhouse at Glenvale. Mom married Leslie Mann in 1949 and farmed together in the Beresford area until moving to Brandon in 1957. She was kept extremely busy raising five small children. It wasn't until later that she went into the work force, being employed by Simpsons-Sears, The Bay, and the Brandon Chiropractic Centre. Upon retirement, she spent many enjoyable summers at the cabin at Clear Lake and had travelled to many far away destinations. Up until the last few years, she enjoyed golfing, bowling and particularly those "shop til you drop" trips to Winnipeg with her daughters. She was active with Seniors for Seniors, the Nifty Needlers and was a past member of Naomi Rebekah Lodge #6. She especially enjoyed her monthly luncheons with the Birthday Gals. Lillian was predeceased by; her parents; husband Leslie; infant son Kevin James and sister Kathleen Davies. She is survived by four daughters: Linda (Ken), Dilys (Keith) their children Steven and Colleen (Szymon) and great grandson Rhoenin, Joy (Bob) their children Dana (Darren), Brad and great-grandson Jordan, Donna (Dennis) and their children Craig (Lisa) and Krista; one son Murray (Susan) and their children Heather (Cory) and great grandsons Braden and Jackson, Geoff (Lindsay). A family graveside ceremony was held on October 16, 2007 at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Urn Bearer was grandson Steve McGregor who also gave a touching remembrance of Grandma. A special poem was read by granddaughter, Dana Cepanec. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Lillian may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 8 - 940 Princess Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 0P6 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3 - 824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
To Those I Love and Those Who Loved Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go,
I have so many things to see and do,
You mustn't tie Yourself to me with tears;
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave You my love,
You can only guess,
How much You gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me if grieve you must;
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart,
I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear,
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And then when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and say "Welcome Home"Memorials
