FRASER: Lester Harry "Les" Fraser passed away with his family at his side on Monday, April 4, 2005. Les was born in Brandon, the eldest son of Jack and Florence (McKeeman) Fraser on April 19, 1921. He attended Park Elementary, Earl Haig Jr. High and Brandon Collegiate Institute Schools. As a teenager, Les worked for Godden & Poole Plumbing & Tinsmiths, the Army and Navy Store and Brandon Packers. He began his career with C.P. Rail in 1939 as a callboy and retired in 1983 as Assistant Supervisor, Customer Service Centre. He enlisted during WW II in the Armed Forces in 1941, serving as an instructor with the Royal Canadian Artillery, A4 Training Centre in Brandon. He was commissioned in 1943 and also married Charlotte Mathieson in June of the same year. He served with the 25th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery at Pat Bay in Victoria, BC and overseas with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. He then resumed his career with CP Rail in 1946. Les was a family man enjoying skating, swimming and fishing with Charlotte and their two daughters, Pat and Joan. Les and Charlotte enjoyed an active social life with close friends. He also enjoyed a game of golf with his friends in later years. Les was an active community member on the East End Community Centre Executive, the Board of Directors at Crocus Credit Union and called a "Good Friend" to the Girl Guides along side his wife, Charlotte. He volunteered at the 26th Field Regiment Museum in the Armories and was an asset to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in many capacities throughout his life. Les was predeceased by his loving wife, Charlotte; his youngest daughter, Joan Chrun; and his only brother, Jack. He will be lovingly remembered by his eldest daughter, Pat; three granddaughters, AndrTa (Dennis) Fimrite (nee Hersack) of Victoria, BC, Aarin (Roy) Patterson (nee Hersack) of Winnipeg and Alison (Rob) Reville (nee Chrun) of Brandon; and son-in-law, Murray Chrun. He will also be dearly missed by his three great grandchildren, Samantha and Oscar Fimrite and Reed Patterson. He loved his "girls", but grinned a little wider when he became G-Pa to two little great grandsons. Les, Dad, Papa, G-Pa will be so missed by us, his family, but loved forever in our hearts. The Ceremony to Celebrate Les' Life was held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Friday, April 8, 2005. Rev. Paul Sakasov and Rev. David Wilson officiated. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery.
