Obituary

The death of Leslie John Green, of Rivers, beloved husband of Violet and dear father of Lorne, occurred at the Riverdale Health Centre, Rivers on Friday, October 3, 2003. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at the Zion Pentecostal Church, Rivers on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Bruce Nehring and Pastor Ernest Shelvey will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rivers Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Les to the Riverdale Health Centre Palliative Care Fund, P.O. Box 428, Rivers, MB, R0K 1X0. Leslie John Green

It is with sadness, the family of Leslie John Green of Rivers, announce his passing, October 03, 2003, at Riverdale Hospital. Les was born April 8, 1920 in the Neelin district of Manitoba. He was the youngest child of Henry and Ethel Green. Les grew up on the farm, and attended Huntley School. When his father retired in 1946 he and his older brother Albert took over the family farming operation. He met Vera Violet Fahner of Codette, Saskatchewan, and they were married on May 20th 1954. In 1955 Les and Violet were blessed with a son, Lorne who in turn blessed them with two grandchildren, Sheri-lyn and Derek. He continued to farm until about 1973 when Les and Violet moved to the town of Rivers where they have resided ever since. Les was employed with Sekine Bicycles and later as custodian at Rivers Collegiate. He retired in 1985. Les was a faithful member of Zion Pentecostal Church and enjoyed the fellowship there. Les is survived by his loving wife Violet, his son Lorne and fiancTe Susan and their children Sheri-Lyn, Derek, Kaitlyn, and Karalee, a brother Cecil Green, a sister-in-law, Esther Fahner, and nieces and nephews Irene Lukion, Jim Bullard, Lorraine Allum, Rhoda Seib, and Kenn Green. Les was predeceased by; his mother and father, Henry and Ethel Green, four sisters, Dora McKenzie, Bessie Gamble, Mabel Bullard, Evelyn Linaker, and one brother, Albert Green. Funeral service was held October 07, 2003 at Zion Pentecostal Church in Rivers with Pastors Nehring and Shelvey officiating. Internment was at Rivers Cemetary. Pallbearers were John Fast, Wes Paddock, Warren Smallwood, Albert Seib, Kenn Green, and Derek Green.
