Obituary

CHAPMAN: Leslie Arthur Chapman of Brandon, Manitoba passed away peacefully at the Assiniboine
Centre on Monday, November 22, 1999. He was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on May 29th, 1923, the eldest son of the late R. Merril and Ruby Chapman. Les was educated in Killarney and worked with his father with McCall Frontinac Oil and the T. Eaton Co. in Winnipeg. He then joined the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War. Les was a very sensitive, private man who loved his family and through the years enjoyed curling, square dancing and fun with friends. He belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion and worked many years with the Killarney Branch, also belonging to Oddfellows and Samaratin Lodges and the Lions Club. In later years, Les worked with D.N.D. at Shilo and Shell Canada. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 50 years, Ilene; daughters, Debra and Dianne Chapman of Winnipeg; son Dean (Sydney) Chapman and grandchildren Jenna and Derrick Chapman of Minnedosa who he was so proud of. Also surviving are his brothers: Glen Chapman, Jack (Honey) Chapman and their families of Killarney; sister Jean (Ray) Polloch, Radium, BC and her family; Aunt Marj Hawking of Killarney and Uncle Joe (Mona) Mustard of Winnipeg ; brothers-in-law Roy (Loreen) Pugh of Killarney and Russell Pugh of Brandon; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister-in-law Corinne Chapman and nephew Aubrey Chapman; and mother-in-law Ann Taylor. Funeral service was held Thursday, November 25th, 1999 at Memories Chapel, Brandon. The Very Rev. James Njegovan of St. Matthew's Anglican Cathedral officiated. A private graveside service followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Brandon General Hospital Foundation, 150 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Brandon Regional Health Centre and the Assiniboine Centre. Also, many thanks to the Brandon Firefighters and Ambulance Drivers.
