SMITH: Lawrence Ray Smith, Brandon resident, passed away on February 7, 2008 at Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon, Manitoba, at the age of 80. Born March 16, 1927 in Birch River, Manitoba. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Emily-Hope (nee Stafford), and his children Neale (Niki), Cheri (Terry), and Dean (Pam) and sister Florence. Ray had one brother-in-law, Henry and two sisters-in-law, Thelma and Elsie. He is predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Charles and seven brothers and sisters, Nellie, Edwin, Bill, Russ, Budge, Vera and Irene. Grandpa (Papa) will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Heather, Scott, Troy, Chelsea, Jaimie, Zach and Ben. They will be joined in mourning by many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Ray was a peaceful, hardworking, loving man who held family values high. One of his greatest pleasures was being able to lend a helping hand to others. His servant heart and dry sense of humor will be missed by all. Memorial service to be held Thursday, February 14 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Cathedral, Brandon, Manitoba.
