Larry Korman passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Valleyview Care Home.
Larry was born on June 27, 1935, in Roblin, MB. He grew up on a farm in the Zelena district of the Shell River (north of Roblin) and attended public school in the Shell River Valley.
Larry followed his two sisters east to Ontario where he started working with Flintcoat in Toronto. In 1965, Larry moved to Thompson, MB to begin work at INCO Metals, leaving Pat and his three boys in Toronto. The family soon joined him, and he dedicated the next 30 years of his career to the company. As General Foreman of Maintenance in the smelter, he played a vital role in operations until his well-earned retirement in the spring of 1995.
In the early years, Larry was actively involved in Thompson minor hockey. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved spending time at his remote camp at Paint Lake, MB. "Korman's Beach" as it became known to everyone, was a place that he occupied every summer. In 1995, they moved to the mainland on Paint Lake and built their retirement home.
Larry was predeceased by his parents Michael and Antonia; sisters Erma and Ruth; and brother Jim; mother and father in-law Walter & Nellie Lupichuk
He is survived by his wife Pat; sons Doug (Barb), Terry (Deb), Tim (Sue), and Rick (Terell); grandchildren Kris, Katie, Drew, Jesse, Braden, Brittney, Parker, and Cala; great grandchildren Lily, Quinn, Emilia, Hudson, Maverick, Lainey, Jack and Heath; sister Marge and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Life & Art Centre, 106 3rd Ave. East, Roblin, MB on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
