CLELLAND: Lana June Clelland, beloved wife of Stu, Mum to Warren, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 8, 2000. Lana was born October 18, 1949 in Lacombe, Alberta with her twin Lynn, the last additions to the Van Eaton clan of fifteen children. She received her elementary education at Tees and high school at Clive. The Van Eaton girls had their own Ball Team. Lana took gymnastics for three summers at Drumhellar, staying with Frank and Annette. She then took a baking course at S.A.I.T. before moving to Brandon in 1970. While in Brandon, Lana worked at various jobs including one at Pioneer Electric. She remained there until closing. She then moved to Kwik Kopy, employed with Doug Wotton through their change over to Printmaster, where she worked until March of this year, as a press operator. While in Brandon, Lana was involved in her community. She and husband Stu were active members of the Lions Club for ten years. Lana was a volunteer at Hillcrest Place for fifteen years. She was also a member of numerous sporting organizations in Alberta and Manitoba in particular, watching and participating in fastball, bowling, broomball and curling winning many trophies in all of them. Lana was an avid fan of hockey, football and baseball. She was on the Brandon Team for the Broomball Nationals held in Prince Edward Island in the early 80's. In 1997, she volunteered as scorekeeper for softball at the Canada Summer Games. Lana had many interests but especially enjoyed gardening, preserving, baking, cake decorating and extending warm hospitality to everyone who crossed their doorstep. Every year she looked forward to the Manitoba Royal Winter Fair to see the heavy horses. Lana truly enjoyed life and will be lovingly remembered by her husband Stu; son Warren; mother, Isobelle Van Eaton; 8 sisters; 4 brothers; Stu's brothers and sister and their spouses; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Grant Van Eaton; one sister Kathleen Mills; and one brother George Van Eaton. A Celebration of Lana's Life was held on Wednesday, July 12, 2000 at Memories Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, R7A 2W8 or to Brandon General Hospital Foundation for Palliative Care, 150 McTavish Avenue East, R7A 2B3 or to the Westman Association for Terminal Care in Hospice, (W.A.T.C.H.)
