Obituary

FARLEY: Roy Farley passed away at his residence, Fairview Home, on Sunday, February 26, 2006. The Ceremony to Celebrate Roy's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Barbara Jardine officiating. A time of visitation for friends will be held at the Chapel prior to the Ceremony. Interment will follow in the Madford Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Roy may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation - Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary's Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 3J2 or to a charity of choice. FARLEY: The death of Kimball Russell Roy Farley occurred at his residence, Fairview Home, on Sunday, February 26, 2006. Roy was born on January 19, 1913 in the R.M. of Elton, Manitoba, one of Edwin and May Farley's seven children. He was raised on the family farm, received his education at the Derry School in the Douglas District and enjoyed playing baseball and curling. In 1934, he worked at Camp Hughes when it was moved to Camp Shilo. Roy then worked hauling grain for farmers and shoveled each load by hand. Roy married Ruth Blair on October 19, 1938 and they farmed in the Ingelow District until 1946, when they moved to the Glanton District. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Wildlife Federation, Pool Elevators, Progressive Conservative Party, Heritage Co-op, and the Manitoba Agricultural Museum. Roy was active on the School Board and a Councilor on the Elton Municipal Board. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors, both John Deere and a series of Case tractors, baseball, curling, wildlife, hunting, and fishing. Roy will be lovingly remembered by: his children, Fay (Kirk) Gillespie, Carol (Bill) Gillette, Terry Farley, Lois Farley (Yianni Skorletos); grandchildren, Joy Gillespie (Dave Noordman), Darcy (Dana) Gillespie, Sharon (Gord) Staples, Gail Price, Andrea Gillette, Lea and Giorgia Skorletos. As well as great grandchildren, Danielle Noordman, Hannah Price, Emma and Justin Gillespie and Jordyn Staples; brother, Earle (Jean) Farley and sister-in-law Hazel. Roy was predeceased by: his wife, Ruth Farley; son, Jim Farley; parents, Ed and May Farley; brothers, Clayton and Basil, sisters, Ezilpha, Gwen and Velma; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. The Ceremony to Celebrate Roy's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, March 2, 2006. Rev. Barbara Jardine officiated. Pallbearers were: Kirk Gillespie, Yianni Skorletos, Darcy Gillespie, Dave Noordman, Gord Staples and Ian Farley. Interment followed in the Madford Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
