The death of Kenneth E. Sandgren, beloved husband of Beatrice occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on January 9, 2001. Ken was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, the youngest of seven children, to Ernest and Mabel Sandgren. He was educated at the Smith Jackson School in Dauphin. Ken married Beatrice Wiggins in 1966 and together they raised four children. He was a baker at the Western Bakery for most of his life. Ken and Bea moved to Brandon in 1992. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, with whom he spent a lot of quality time. Ken was a sports enthusiast, and enjoyed watching many different sports, and always liked to keep up to date on current events. He was a very intelligent man who had a thirst for knowledge, enjoyed trivia and had a good sense of humour. Ken is survived by his wife, Beatrice, children; Ernest, Gordon (Sharon), Keith (Hope) and Tracy (Mike) Flett, brothers; Edward, Orval (Olive), sisters; Evelyn (Roy) Embley, Verna (Wilf) Hammond, Selma (Bernard) Hink and grandchildren; Raydene, Leon, Rebecca, Stephanie, Dylan and Jade. Ken was predeceased by his parents; Ernest and Mabel, and his brother; George Alan. A time of visitation was held at Memories Chapel on Sunday evening, January 14, 2001. The Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, January 15, 2001. Capt. Graham Brown of Dinsdale Home officiated. Pallbearers were Trevor Whale, Jim Harder, Ray Demerais, Jack Hyndman, Lloyd Waite, and William Wiggins. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery.
