Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Taggart on July 26, 2024. Surrounded by his loving family, Arlene and Jason,on A-3 Palliative Care.

Born on March 5, 1946, Keith was the cherished son of Bob and May Taggart and grew up with his brother Bob in the family home built by his grandfather. He attended Alexander, McLaren, and Harrison High Schools. Keith began his career at Brown Steel Tank, but after an injury, he found a fulfilling role as an orderly at Assiniboine Hospital in 1970. He continued his dedicated service when the hospital moved in 1974, eventually becoming a porter aide in Radiology until his retirement in 2000.

In 1977, Keith married Arlene (Rose) on August 30th, and the couple bought their first home the same year. Their family was joyfully completed in September when their son Jason was born. In 1987, the family moved back to Keith's original home, where they lived until his recent passing.

Keith had a passion for travel, often exploring the country on his motorcycle with his best friend Barry. He treasured the family cabin at Clear Lake, first built by his father in 1953, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing. Keiths love of bowling prompted him to join Heavy Evason to coach the first Special Olympic 10 pin bowling club in 1995. After Heavy's sudden passing, Keith took over the club, expanding it from 12 bowlers to 68, and he took great pride in giving each athlete a recycled trophy at the end of each season.

Keith leaves behind his devoted wife of 49 years, Arlene; his son Jason from London, Ontario; his brother Bob (Alvena) Taggart of Calgary; his brother-in-law Randy Westwood; his special friend and motorcycle buddy Barry (Sue Malinowski) of Provost, Alberta; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Bob and May Taggart; his sisters-in-law Sheila Romance and Cathy Westwood; and his brother-in-law Steve Romance.
Arlene and Jason extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff on the 5th floor of General Center, the Palliative Care staff on A-3, and the doctors Dr. Mohammed and Dr. Eigo for their compassionate care.
