Kathleen Pearl Foster

Kathleen Pearl Foster (nee Whittingham) passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Place, Brandon on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Pearl was born in Wakopa, MB on October 8, 1930, to John and Gertrude Whittingham. Her father worked for the CN Railway as a Section Forman and in 1931 the family moved to Elgin MB, where her father took up the same position.

Pearl took her schooling in the old Elgin Consolidated School until her parents retired and moved to Brandon, MB in 1948. Pearl decided to take a business course at Wheat City Business College and later worked for Wheat City Ice Co. until her marriage to Elliott Foster in June of 1950. In later years she worked for Christies School Supply.

Pearl and Elliott raised a family of 5: Tom Foster of Rapid City, MB, Lynda (Ed) Scarff of Calgary, AB, Kathy (Ron) Peterson of Edmonton, AB, Carol (Larry) Vogt of Brandon, MB, and Sandra Foster of Brandon, MB. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Pearl was predeceased by her husband Elliott in 1983, parents John and Gertrude in 1948 and 1968, siblings Gertie, John, Henry, Albert, Beatrice, Bill, Vi, Peggy, George, Joyce, and grandson Jeff.

After raising her family Pearl enjoyed her cabin at Sportsman Park for a few years. She also enjoyed playing cribbage, shuffleboard, gardening, bowling, bingo and reading. One of the highlights in her life was being able to take a trip to England in 1984 to visit her brother George and his wife as well as some of her cousins, her parents who had come from England in 1906. She made this trip with her sister Joyce and daughter Sandy. She also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with daughter Lynda, to Orlando with sister Peggy and trips to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Thunder Bay to visit family. Her happiest times were having family gatherings at Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. She always had her camera handy.

At Pearl’s request there will be no public service. Cremation has taken place. A private family get together will take place at a later date.

Donation in Pearl’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
