Kate "Kay" Ballingall (nee MacQuarrie) of Fairview Home, dear mother of Faye, Lois, Judy, June, and Patty, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her residence on Thursday, July 19, 2001. Kay was born in Scotland on January 14, 1918. Her family immigrated to Canada when she was six years of age. Kay lived in Brandon the rest of her life. She also received her schooling in Brandon. Kay married Lorne Scott and had daughters Faye and Lois. She then married Alexander Ballingall and they had Judy, June and Patty. Kay was a homemaker. She was a member of Knox United Church. In her latter years she loved to have coffee with her family and friends at Fairview. Kay enjoyed special visits from her sister Marion. She loved to tell "Grandma Jokes". Kay always made sure that everyone at Fairview knew she had five daughters, and they were perfect. Kay is survived by her daughters, Faye (Gary) Jenner, Lisa and Scott; Lois (Jim) Ferris and Mike; Judy (Don) Moroz and Kerri; June (Dave) Elliott, Scott, Ryan, Brett and Kyle; and Patty (Brooke) Wallace, Tyler and Kurt and step grandchildren Rodney, Riley and Brandee. She is also survived by her sister, Marion Haywood; sister-in-law, Charlotte Scott, numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, James and Christina MacQuarrie; husband, Alexander Ballingall in 1975; sisters, Mary and Ann; brothers, John and Rod; and a niece, Linda Stratton. The Ceremony to Celebrate Kay's Life was held at Knox United Church on Monday, July 23, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Don Hudson officiated. Urn bearers were Mike Ferris and Kerri Moroz. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Kay may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7.
