HANLAN: Judith Anna "Judy" Hanlan (nee Pawlosky) passed away on Monday, January 24, 2005 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Judy was born on April 3, 1950 in Birtle, Manitoba and with her family moved to Elkhorn, Virden and Melita. In 1967, Judy began working for Manitoba Telephones in Melita and later moved to the "Diamond City", Hamiota and then to Brandon. Judy loved working for MTS and worked there until her passing. In Hamiota, Judy met her best friend Joanne Lelond. She became very close with the rest of the Lelonds, Judy, Val and Terry and their mother, Joan, who was like a second mother to her. One of the highlights of Judy's life was the trip to England that her and Joanne took. In the early 1980's, her brothers Allan and Dennis purchased the Dunrea Hotel and she spent many happy days working and socializing at the hotel. She made many lifelong friends in the community. In 1986, Judy married Richard Hanlan and their daughter Margaret was born in 1987. Together they traveled to Reno, Las Vegas, Penticton, Niagara Falls, Disney World in Orlando and many trips to visit relatives and friends in Thompson, Kimberley, Prince Albert, Rocky Mountain House and Yellowknife. Judy and Richard separated in 2001. Judy will be greatly missed by her son, Tony of Aldergrove, BC; daughter, Margaret Rae of Brandon; special friend and caregiver, Alma Warniska of Brandon and all her friends and coworkers at MTS. She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret; father, Walter; brothers, Barry, Dennis, Jim and Allan. The Ceremony to Celebrate Judy's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 2:00 pm. Sherry Sawatzky-Dyck will officiate. Interment will follow at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined.
