Joseph Martin Engel passed away peacefully at the Rivers Health Centre, Rivers, Manitoba, on Sunday, June 10, 2001. Joseph was born in Leipzig, Saskatchewan on December 9, 1920. Joe was a kind, loving and humble man who was an avid reader and fisherman. He is survived by his daughter, Olive Baker and family of Brandon; sister, Mary Deutsch and family of Regina, Saskatchewan; and sister-in-law, Rita Engel and family. Joe was pre-deceased by his parents, Joseph and Philomena; brother, Ernest; and special friend, Jane Moskven. The Memorial Service was held at the Rivers Personal Care Home on Thursday, June 14, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Celebrant was Rev. Fr. Leo Fernandes of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Brandon, Manitoba. Interment followed in the Rivers Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joe may be made to the Rivers Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, 512 Quebec Street, Rivers, Manitoba R0K 1X0.
