Obituary

Johnny Edwin Johnson passed away at the age of 81 years at the Minnedosa Hospital on December 27, 2000 after a short illness. Johnny was born west of Clanwilliam, Manitoba on March 29, 1909. He grew up on the family farm and learning carpentry from his future father-in-law, Albert Rognan north of Erickson. After his marriage to Gladys Rognan on June 4, 1940, they moved to Minnedosa, where he started his business in carpentry, finally forming "Johnson Redi-Bilt Homes" in the 1960's with his wife. He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Minnedosa and later a member of the Evangelical Mission Covenant Church. He was predeceased by his mother and father, sisters Myrtle, Tillie and Christine and his brothers Bennie, Norman and Carlie. Johnny is survived by his children; Curtis (Carol) of Penhold, AB, Carolyn of Minnedosa, Clare of Calgary and his granddaughter, Jennifer of Calgary. He is also survived by a brother Russell (Marion) and sister, Florence, sister-in-law Marjorie Johnson all of Minnedosa, sister-in-law Inez Johnson of Victoria, BC and brother-in-law Albert O'Neill of Kelowna, BC. There are numerous nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his special friend Margaret Attwood of Minnedosa. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at 2:00 pm. in the Evangelical Mission Covenant Church in Minnedosa with Pastor Dan Pearson officiating. Interment followed at the Danvers Cemetery, Erickson, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to the Minnedosa Library Fund or to a charity of choice.
