Obituary

The death of John E. Ramsay of Brandon occurred, Sunday March 9, 2003 at the Assiniboine Centre. Funeral arrangements are pending with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.

RAMSAY: John Elbridge Ramsay passed away, with his sons by his side, at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon on Sunday, March 9, 2003 after suffering a stroke a week earlier. John was born at Bradwardine, Manitoba on September 11, 1915, the only son of John and Florence Ramsay. He attended school at Bradwardine until 1926, when the family moved to Katrime. Returning two years later, Elbridge attended the Tarbolton and Bradwardine schools and then continued his education at the Canadian Junior College near Lacombe, AB where he took the pre-med course. On July 27, 1947 he married Mabel Nasserden of Saskatoon and they were blessed with three sons: Jim, Bob and John. During their years on the farm Elbridge served for eight years on the local Manitoba Pool Elevator Board and was secretary-treasurer for the Bradwardine School for ten years up until the time of its closing. Elbridge and Mabel retired to Brandon in the spring of 1983 where they enjoyed opening their home to family and friends. Elbridge was active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving many years as treasurer and deacon. He was predeceased by: his beloved wife Mabel, and his sister, Bernice. He is survived by: his sister, Lillian of Boise, Idaho; brother-in-law, Ben Kettner of Brandon; sisters-in-law, Hazel (Jack) Wilkinson of Peachland, BC and Doris Nasserden of Kelowna, BC. His three sons, who were with him during his last week: Jim (Debbie) of Redcliff, AB, Bob of Victoria, BC, and John (Lucille) of Saskatoon, SK. Elbridge is also survived by: six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Campbell Page of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Tarbolton Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Elbridge to a charity of choice. The family would like to thank Elwin and Elaine Kettner, his church family and neighbours who were such a support to him following the death of his wife, Mabel. The family greatly appreciated the support and care of Dr. Groves and the staff at the Assiniboine Centre. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Memorials
