MAHER: The death of Earl Maher, of the Rounthwaite district, beloved husband of Lena and dear father of Colin, occurred in Brandon on November 1, 2007. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 from 7:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Brandon Hills United Church on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Margret Kristjansson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Hills cemetery. MAHER: The death of John Earl Maher, of the Rounthwaite district, occurred in Brandon on November 1, 2007. Earl was born in the Rural Municipality of Oakland on April 11, 1918. He received his schooling at East Brandon School and farmed the family farm all his life. He married Lena Wilkie on October 18, 1958. Earl was a member of the Manitoba Angus Association and the Treesbank New Horizons. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends and playing cards. He is survived by his wife Lena, and son Colin. There are several nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by: his parents, John and Sara Maher, sisters; "Ermie" Laluk and brother-in-law, John Laluk, Lila Bowey and brother-in-law Elven Bowey. He was also predeceased by: his mother-in-law, Mabel Wilkie, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Scotty and Ethel Gaffney and brother-in-law, George Wilkie. The Funeral Service was held at the Brandon Hills United Church on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. The Rev. Margret Kristjansson officiated. Pallbearers were: Bill Ohanka, Bill Duce, Gary Everard, Mark Griffith, George Oliver and Dave McMillan. Interment was in the Brandon Hills cemetery.
