LOVATT: Surrounded by love and his family, John "Morley" Lovatt peacefully passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, April 30, 2000. Morley was born in the R.M. of Glenwood, Manitoba May 2, 1926. He received his education at the Souris School in addition to the many years of "hands on" experience working on the family farm. Morley's passion for animala, especially horses, farming and the land was very evident in his early years and continued throughout his life. He often preferred to help out with harvest and farming over structured schooling if given the choice. Experience proved valuable when circumstances required him to take on added home and farm responsibilities during war time. In the early 1950's Morley moved to the Carroll District where mixed farming continued to keep him busy. Shortly after he moved, Morley married and started a family. In addition to farming, he worked in a dairy plant as a machine operator. Morley belonged to the Foresters and was a member of the United Church. His love for gardening, flowers, and landscaping was evident by his picturesque yard where he spent many hours. He had a love for all types of music and was actively involved with a local Minstrel group. Morley enjoyed curling and golf, also was an avid fan of hockey and baseball. His greatest attributes were his love and committment for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Doreen; children: Donna (Larry) Charney, Barry Lovatt, and Deb (Bruce) Beddome; grandchildren: Sherry, Jason, Lisa, Karlie, Dustin, Bret, and Daniel. Also surviving are his brother Roy; sisters, Dot and Doreen. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Jessie; brother Ken; sisters Louise and Aileen. A graveside service was held at the Souris and Glenwood Cemetery, Souris, Manitoba on May 4, 2000. Donations in memory of Morley may be made to the Hemodialysis Unit, Brandon Regional Health Centre, 150 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
