EDWARDS: The family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of John (Jack) Stanley Edwards on June 24, 2000. Jack was born on January 29, 1909 in Kemnay, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm and received his education at the Kemnay School. He worked on a survey crew that surveyed the original townsite of Churchill. In 1932, he started with the Cockshutt Plow Co. and continued his career in the farm implement business, retiring from Frank Lawson & Sons in 1977 at the age of 68. Jack married Mae (Noakes) in 1938 and they celebrated 62 years together. Jack and Mae lived in Brandon their entire married life. After Jack's retirement, he got the travel bug and he and Mae loved their trips to Hawaii. Jack was a Past Councellor of the United Commercial Travellers, a member for over 50 years, and was very involved in his community through the organization. Jack was a founding member of the UCT TRAV-O, and was still assisting faithfully every Wednesday night up until a few years ago. Jack was also involved from day one with the Travellers Day Parade. Together with Mae, Jack managed the UCT Hall for 10 years. He was a curler all his life and very proud to be a member of the "8 Ender" Club. Jack was lost in the winter when he had to give up curling well into his 80's when arthritis became a foe to his handling the rocks. Gardening was his summer passion and even when when it became extremely difficult in the last year or so, he still had his beloved garden and yard to putter and work in (albeit with some help). Jack leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years, Mae, daughter Marguerite, son Bill (Norma) also two grandchildren; Kristal (Daryn) Laminman of Brandon and Todd (Brenda) Edwards of Starbuck as well as three much loved and adored great grandchildren; Brittany & Brendan Laminman and Dylan Edwards. Also surviving are brothers, Gordon & Len, sister Dorothy (Dolly) Bond and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John & Alice (nee Poole) Edwards, brother Tom, sister Daisy (Jack) McLeod and sisters-in-law, Mary and Vic Edwards. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at 2:00 pm. at Memories Chapel. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Jack may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330 .
