DAY: The death of Gordon Day of Brandon, beloved husband of Bev, father of Jim, Shelly and Sandra, occurred peacefully at his residence with his family at his side on Sunday, February 8, 2004. The Ceremony to Celebrate Gordon's Life will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. DAY: Gordon Day passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the age of 67 years. Gord was born in Deloraine, Manitoba on March 26, 1936, the son of Jim and Evelyn Day. He grew up on a farm at Dand until his late teens when he moved to Virden to pursue a career in the Virden oilfields. In 1965, Gord got into the farm machinery business with White Farm Equipment where he was posted in numerous Western Canada locations. In 1972, he joined Frank Lawson and Sons in Brandon as sales manager. He then pursued his entrepreneurial spirit when he became a partner in the John Deere dealership in Virden. Gord then moved back to Brandon where he had various sales opportunities until 1995, when he started Prairie Petroleum Products with his son, Jim. Gord is survived by: his loving wife, Bev; their three children, Jim (Rosanne), Shelly (Doug), Sandra (Kent); and six grandchildren, Kristi and Ryan Volk, Kaitlyn, Avery, Lance and Tyler McCutcheon; his mother, Evelyn Day; brothers, Bruce (Sherle), Allan (Nancy); sisters, Jean (Dean) and Audrey; sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his father, Jim and infant granddaughter, Jamie Ann and mother and father-in-law, Molly and Rudy Schoen. The Celebration of Gord's Life was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at Central United Church. Mona Franklin officiated. Pallbearers were: Richard Esau, Colin Kirkpatrick, Danny James, Scott Mitchell, Ian Mauro and Aaron Mauro. All in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. DAY: We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to our friends and family for all your kindness and sympathy in the loss of our loved one, Gord. The flowers, cards, food, charitable donations and kind words have helped to ease our sorrow. Thank you to all the hospital staff on 400 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, and A2 at the Assiniboine Centre for the compassionate care given to Gordon, and the considerations shown to all his family.
