Obituary

We the family of Jocelyn Botterill are saddened to announce the passing of our mother which occurred in the early morning of Thursday, March 8, 2001. Jo was born in 1923 in Winnipeg. She completed her schooling in Winnipeg and worked as a bookkeeper for Coca-Cola prior to her marriage to Ray Botterill. Jo's family resided in Alberta for several years prior to relocating to Brandon in 1963. Mom's interests over the years included bowling, cross country skiing, curling, bridge, I.O.D.E., Mardi Club. Her beloved husband, Ray passed away in 1973. Mom enjoyed music and outings during the 1980's with her special friend, Bob Patterson, until his death in 1988. Bob was affectionately known as Mr. P to the entire family as he was much more than just a father-in-law to Jolene. Most important to Mom was her family. Sunday suppers were highlighted by Mom's excellent cooking. She loved to entertain and there was always room for one more. Mom enjoyed spending time at Clear Lake during the summer. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whose pictures decorated her walls and fridge. Although her illness took its toll on her physical condition, her memory remained sharp and intact. Jo will be missed by her children, Richard, Jolene (Dave) Patterson, Terry (Jean) and David (Carolin), her precious grandchildren, Alisa and Scott Patterson, Brian and Janet Botterill, Erin, Hannah and Clare Botterill, as well as Jo's brothers and sisters: Jim (Lynn) Francis, Betty Richardson, Ted (Pat) Francis, Dorothy Francis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jo was predeceased by her parents: Albert and Elizabeth Francis. Viewing for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, Brandon, on Sunday, March 11, 2001 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service for Jocelyn will be held at St. Matthew's Cathedral, 403 - 13th Street, on Monday, March 12, 2001 at 11:00 am, with the Very Rev. Jim Njegovan officiating. Private family interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Jocelyn may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada, 55 Bloor Street West, Suite 232, Toronto, Ontario M4W 1A6. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Mom remained positive to the end and one of her final statements was "I wish you all a wonderful life." Memorials
