DAUPHINAIS: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Pamela Dauphinais. She was residing at Riverheights Terrace, Brandon at the time of her passing. Joanne was born in Seven Oaks, Kent County, England on February 28, 1921 and passed away on Wednesday September 3, 2003 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, at the age of 82 years young. Joanne was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Joseph and by her brother Derek. She was raised in England and completed her education there. She then took the necessary training to become a nurse. During the war she was a nursing sister. Although she had many friends and some family that didn't survive the bombing of London, she was lucky enough to do so. Shortly after the war she immigrated to Canada and traveled out to British Columbia. While in Cranbrook, she met her husband Joseph. They eventually ended up in Brandon and resided at 2404 Queens Avenue, when it was the outskirts of Brandon. In fact their house was surrounded on all sides by farmland. While living there all three of their children were born. As the area started to develop they sold and moved to their home on 22nd Street. This house became Joanne's pride and joy and she talked fondly of it until she died. Joanne continued her nursing career and worked at both the Brandon General Hospital and at Central Park Lodge. She also enjoyed her years in the hospitality industry; first at the Keystone Motor Inn for the original owners Ted and Lo Georgison and also for them at the Lamplighter - now known as The Rodeway Inn. As the children grew they got very involved in horses, which prompted them to buy acreage north of Alexander where they spent the next 35 years. Over the years one of Joanne's great passions were her flowers. Both indoors and out her green thumb was legendary. Her yards were always beautiful and included ponds - even before they became the "in" thing! She is survived by her three children Dave (Darrin), Kit (Sandy) and Susan (Charles); grandchildren Anthony (Chelsey), Samantha (Mike), Chas (Nikki), Farrah (Glen), Jason, Joseph and Jennifer; great grandchildren Dylan and Kytaria with a third one on the way, which she was really excited about. Joanne is also survived by a cousin Bill (Vera) Webb and nephew Chris (Sally) all from England. Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, September 6, 2003. Captain Garry Keeping officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Urn Bearers were Lo Georgison and Sandy Dauphinais. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery where she was laid to rest with her husband Joe in the columbarium. Flowers were gratefully appreciated. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Joanne to the World Wildlife Fund Canada, 245 Eglinton Ave. East, Suite 410, Toronto, ON M4P 3J1, the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7, Salvation Army, Red Shield Appeal, 9 Princess Ave. E., Brandon, MB R7A 1R8 or to a charity of choice. We would like also to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to Mr. Craig Hayward and all the staff at Memories Chapel for their great care of us at this time and doing an excellent job. Thank you! Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Memorials
