Jim William Ballingall

Jim Ballingall was born on July 11, 1946, and passed away peacefully at home in Brandon, Mb, at the age of 80.

The oldest of four, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, Donny and Harry, but is survived by his sister, Janice, who is always eager to offer advice for across the pond.

Jim was always reluctant to join in activities but often became the life of the party once he graced everyone with his presence. He rarely listened but always had something to say.

Jim loved his sons and grandkids, a good steak dinner, a glass of wine, and the occasional rum. His happy place was The Shop, which gave him somewhere to go after retirement. Della loved The Shop as well, for much the same reason.

Jim wry sense of humor and sarcasm will be missed by all; his stubbornness will not. Behind his grumpy façade was a kindness and generosity that many knew well. He was quick to help whenever it was needed. He did more than just maintain houses and cars; Jim helped maintain the lives of the people he cared about.

No funeral or celebration of life will be held in Jim’s honour, as he thought people had better ways of spending their time. In lieu of flowers, take a moment to raise a glass in honour of Jim and the character he was.
