LAWSON: Jessie Lawson, beloved wife of Ken Lawson, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2003 with her family by her side. Jessie was born in Forest, Ontario in 1920. At a very young age she moved to Wawanesa with her parents Charlie and Elizabeth King. She later moved to Boissevain where she met and married her first husband Wilbert "Red" Walker with whom she had two children, Linda and Jack. Jessie lived the majority of her life in Brandon where she met and married Ken Lawson in 1960. Jessie was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. Her caring nature, love of helping others, wonderful sense of humour and kind heartedness brought incredible joy to the lives of those who knew her. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and to help out her family and friends however she could. Jessie enjoyed working at the Jo-Ann Shop where she worked for 15 years until she retired. She loved to help her friends, family and customers dress well. She had an amazing ability to select the best outfits for people and always gave an honest opinion. She was a very fashionable lady and a truly beautiful person both on the inside and out. Jessie took great pride and joy in her marriage to "Grandpa" Ken. On September 26th, 2003 they celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. Grandpa's calm nature was a great balance to Jessie's often excitable one. He truly was her angel here on earth and Jessie knew how lucky she was to have him and cherished their wonderful relationship. In the last few years, as Jessie's health declined, she took great comfort from the visits and phone calls from family and friends. Her Tuesdays with Wilma Lawson and loving care from Cheryl Winger were greatly appreciated by her and her family. Jessie is survived by her husband Ken Lawson; daughter Linda (Larry) Stuart; grandchildren Susan, Tammy, Clint and Tom; daughter-in-law Cathie Caron and granddaughter Robyn Walker. She is also survived by her brother Tony "Art" King. Other family members left to mourn include a sister, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law. Jessie was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, her son Jack and two sisters. We have all been truly blessed to have had Jessie in our lives. She touched all of our lives in a special way and will be forever loved and missed. The graveside service was held on Monday, November 10, 2003 at the Brandon Cemetery followed by a reception for family and friends. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Jessie to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Bed for You, Bed for Me" Campaign, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
