Obituary

James L. Morris passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on August 22, 2024, at the age of 67, with his wife, Holly, and son, Jordan, by his side.

James was predeceased by his parents, George and Alice, brother Bob and sister Judy.

Along with Holly and Jordan, he is survived by Cheri, Steven Higgins (Michelle), grandchildren Claire and Cyrus, brother Jack (Stella), Holly's sister Leanne (Jim) and brother Rory (Yvette). As well, James will be missed by a great many nieces and nephews, friends, colleagues and clients.

James was born in Winnipeg on November 17, 1956, and graduated from St. James Collegiate. It was there that he developed his love for drama club and musicals. He married Holly in 1987, and his employment brought them to Brandon in 1995. James worked for 40 years as a sales rep in the beauty industry, travelling throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and NW Ontario.

James was a family man; he loved cheering his children on at their various sporting events and firing up the BBQ. He loved all genres of music, ballroom dancing, both as a competitor and later as a teacher, playing golf, pool and card games, Euchre and Crib, with friends. They spent many summers at the trailer in Minnedosa. James loved spending time with people, of any age, and welcomed them all into their home.

He was a kind man, who never complained, even as he was inflicted with the diagnoses of dementia, followed by ALS. He will be remembered as a man who sought to enjoy life to the fullest.

A Celebration of Life has taken place at Memories Chapel. Donations in memory of James may be made to the ALS Society, 2A-1717 Dublin Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0H2, or the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Ave. E, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
