MCNEELY: Trevor passed away quietly, surrounded by his family after a brief, courageous struggle with cancer on Sunday, March 21, 2004. Trevor was born in Russell, Manitoba on May 10, 1934. His youth was spent sometimes mischievously in Dauphin and later in Minnedosa. In 1951, he began attending Brandon College. In 1953, while attending college he met the love of his life, Shirley. They were married in 1955. With a B.Sc. in hand he went to raise a family and work in the oil business in the West. Based in Calgary and later abroad in Spain, and also on the Spanish Saharra, his family flourished. In 1962, he returned to Canada and began graduate studies as a Ph. D. candidate at the University of Alberta. His English literature studies concluded in 1966, when he accepted a position and returned to his Alma Mater, Brandon College. For 32 years until his retirement, he passed on his love and knowledge of British and American literature to students, who came to know Professor McNeely, as a tough but fair teacher. After his retirement in 1998, he and Shirley set off on a series of globe-trotting expeditions. Between trips, he completed his life's work on Shakespeare: "Proteus Unmasked", which he saw through to publication. Trevor lived a balanced life, which meant family, cards, sports and good times were always at hand. Many people knew him as an active runner. One of the highlights of his fitness endeavors was to compete in the 2000/2001 Kananaskis 100 mile relay, which he co-participated with his four children. He also loved a card game and liked nothing better than an evening of laughter and stories while sitting around the kitchen table. Trevor will be sadly missed by: his wife Shirley; children, Ruth Webber, Gary (Wendy Untereiner), Dale (Margie) McNeely and James (Valerie) McNeely; grandchildren Jessica, Lindsey Webber (Jim Saville) and great grandson Nolan, Grace, Linette, Trevor and Bradley McNeely. A Celebration of his Life and Passions will be held at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, Brandon University School of Music on Thursday, March 25, 2004 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.
