Obituary

James MacLennan Hutton, beloved husband of Marion, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2001 in the city. James was born in Brandon on April 3, 1916 to George and Catherine Hutton. He lived his entire life in Brandon, where he received his education. James initially worked with the Scott Fruit Company, and later joined the Great West Life Assurance Company where he worked for 35 years as a Chartered Life Underwriter and branch manager. James was a long time member and board member of Knox United Church. He was also past-president of the Brandon Kiwanis Club, and board member of YMCA in Brandon. His interests were in scouting with the Boy Scouts of Brandon and he enjoyed golf and bridge. He also enjoyed family vacations at Detroit lakes and retirement winters in Weslaco, Texas. James and Marion celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in June of this year. James is survived by his wife, Marion; sons, Don (Sharon); and Murray (Judy); grandchildren, Traci (Bob) Priestley; Christal (Jason) DeBaets; Craig (Joanne); Michael (Sheila); and Scott (Melanie); great grandchildren, Alyssa, Danny, Katie, Stephen, Cassie, Jeffery and Andrew. Also surviving is his sister, Christine Stewart of Winnipeg. James was pre-deceased by his daughter, Deborah Lynne in 1973, mother, father, brother John and sisters, Alice McKinney and Annabelle Clement. The Funeral Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Hudson of Knox United Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
