Obituary

BURNELL: The death of James Edward (Ted) Burnell, beloved husband of Thelma, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, September 10, 2000. Ted was born in Strathclair, Manitoba on June 19, 1921. He was raised on the family farm in the Moline District and went to school in Poplar Grove and Cardale. Ted spent 30 years of his life farming and truck driving. He enjoyed and actively participicated in many sports over the years. His greatest enjoyment was time spent with his family. Ted is survived by his wife of 27 years, Thelma; his children: Shirley (Arnie) Wruck, Mavis (Terry) Harder, Tom (Myrna) Burnell, and Pat (Mike) Melnyk; his step-children: Valerie (Roger) Hebert, Stanley (Jackie) Burnell, Bradley Dyck, and Rodney (Barb) Burnell; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Beth Jorgensen and Faye Cornish (Morley); his brother Ron Burnell (Faye Neff); many nieces and nephews. Ted was predeceased by his son Larry in 1992; his mother and father; step-mother; brother-in-law; nephew and former wife Edna. He touched the lives of many people and was treasured by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Funeral service was held at the Rapid City United Church on Thursday, September 14, 2000. Rev. Boyd Drake officiated. Interment followed in the Rapid City Cemetery, Rapid City, Manitoba. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Ted may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 203-42 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B2 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, B 727 - 10th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4G7. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
