It is with great sorrow that we share the sudden loss of our beloved Jaden who started his journey to the Spirit World on Monday, July 15, 2024, at his home in Gladstone, MB.
Jaden was born on August 1, 2018, to his parents, the late Aimee Antoine McKay, Sioux Valley First Nation and father Cole Merrick, Long Plain First Nation, in Brandon, MB.
He is predeceased by his mother Aimee, brother Zade McKay, cousin Arianna Antoine, grandfather Edward McKay, Poppa Orville Smoke, great grandmother Victoria Demas, great grandfather Richard Antoine.
Jaden will be forever loved by his: Godmother Lakota Woods; Amazing Caregiver Shelley Parsons; siblings - Israel, Landen, DeShawn, Maliyah, Jordan; father Cole Merrick; Kunshi Penny; KooKoo Rosalind; Aunties - Kelly, Helen, Sammie, Haylee; Uncles – Russell, Junior, Ashton, Peter Sky.
Jaden loved music, jazz, the sound of drumming, snuggles, tickles, any toy that made a noise, laying on the grass, swinging on his saucer, being in water whether at bathtime or in a pool. His favorite tastes of food included mashed potatoes, yogurt, ice cream, spicy sauces and watermelon. He attended kindergarten this past year, loved interacting with his peers and will be missed by them.
Service will take place at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon, MB on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. with Liz Merrick to officiate.
Funeral will take place at the Sioux Valley Veterans Hall, Sioux Valley First Nation, MB on Thursday, July 25, 2024, with departure from Memories Chapel at 9:15 a.m. with Elder Oswald McKay to officiate.
