CORNISH: Ivy Alma Cornish, of Rapid City, passed away at the Riverdale Health Centre in Rivers on Monday, June 19, 2000. Ivy was born in the Oakleigh District near Rapid City, Manitoba on March 1, 1910, daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth Hales. She lived all of her life in this district and became involved in many community events. In her earlier years, Ivy enjoyed writing and performing skits and monologues. She was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Rapid City United Church. On March 1, 1933 Ivy married Samuel Robert Cornish who later predeceased her June 19, 1991. She was also predeceased by her parents; a sister Winnifred Cornish and son-in-law Arnold Barnswell. Ivy is survived by her children: son, Dorne (Lorraine) Cornish, daughter, Wynn Barnswell and son Ernest (Bernadette) Cornish; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister Mrs. Eva Shelvey. The memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2000 at the Rapid City United Church at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Boyd Drake will officiate assisted by Rev. R. Dorne Cornish and Rev. Ernest Shelvey. Soloist will be daughter-in-law Bernadette Cornish. Interment will be in the Rapid City Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
