KISS: Istvan "Steve" Kiss passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, December 29, 2003. Steve was born in Szentgotthard, Hungary on July 29, 1936 the middle child of eight. He worked in a steel factory in Hungary from a young age until he immigrated to Canada in 1956 where he settled in Brandon. Steve worked various jobs, he was the caretaker at Rosewood Memorial Gardens, and in the late 1960's he started working at the Brandon Mental Health Centre until his retirement in 1996. Steve was active as an usher at St. Augustine's Church. He had a passion for sports and played on the Flying Dutchman Team during the early 60's, in the Brandon Senior Soccer League. Steve spent countless hours walking and enjoying nature, while chatting with people he would meet. He was always willing to assist and give to anyone in need; he was very generous. Most importantly, was the time and love he gave to his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve is survived by: his wife Ilona "Helen" Kiss (nee Horvath); son, Steve Kiss; daughters, Kimberley (Sean) Collett and Rosmarie (Todd) Chastko; grandchildren, Carissa, Rebeka and Morgan Kiss, Matthew Collett and Emily Chastko. He was predeceased by: his parents, Karoly and Anna Kiss and his brother, Charlie. Prayers will be said at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Celebrant will be Fr. Leo Fernandes. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
